Marie Balasse

Dr Marie Balasse directs the stable isotope preparation lab of UMR 7209 at CNRS (Paris) and is responsible for the IRMS facilities at the MNHN (Paris). She holds an ERC Starting Grant for the project SIANHE “Stable isotope investigations on the adaptations of Neolithic husbandry to the diverse climatic and environmental settings of Europe” (2008-2013). Marie is currently conducting research on Neolithic cattle and caprine husbandry in Europe, with a particular focus in south and south-eastern Romania, including assemblages from the very beginning of the 6th millennium to the 5th millennium cal BC (Starčevo-Criş I, Hamangia and Gumelniţa cultures).
